My Story
Hi, I’m Jonah Antonio — a professional basketball player for the Illawarra Hawks (NBL) and a former NCAA Division I athlete.
This journey means more to me than most people might realise.
Growing up in Australia, I knew almost nothing about America or the U.S. college basketball system. As a teenager, I took a leap of faith — leaving home to chase a dream I didn’t fully understand.
That journey began with a hard lesson.
I initially ended up at a fake prep school in Wichita, Kansas, and quickly realised I’d been misled. Thankfully, I crossed paths with a coach who helped me get out of that situation and connected me with Sunrise Christian Academy, one of the top prep programs in the United States. It was a massive wake-up call — the difference between junior basketball in Australia and elite American basketball was worlds apart.
During my time at Sunrise, I earned a Division I scholarship to Mount St. Mary’s University. Like many young players, I had bigger goals, so I made the decision to transfer to a JUCO program to become immediately eligible and continue developing. That move changed everything.
At JUCO, I became one of the top-ranked players in the country, receiving over 30 Division I offers.
From there, I committed to UNLV, where I loved my time but battled through injury. After graduating, I transferred once more — this time to Wake Forest University in the ACC — achieving my dream of playing Power Five basketball. Competing against legendary coaches like Coach K and Roy Williams before they retired is something I’ll never forget.
These experiences — ones that less than 1% of players worldwide will ever have — taught me far more than basketball. They taught me resilience, self-belief, and the importance of having the right guidance at the right time.
Today, my passion is helping the next generation of athletes — especially young players who remind me of myself at 16: full of potential, driven, but unsure of where to start.
This isn’t just a career for me — it’s my purpose. I’ve lived the journey, learned from every step, and now I’m committed to helping you chase your college basketball dream with clarity, confidence, and the right support.
