CHC Foundations Program

Guidance for Australian & international athletes pursuing U.S. high school, prep school, or post-graduate pathways

The CHC Foundations Program is designed for families who want to make informed decisions before entering the U.S. basketball system.

For international athletes, moving to the United States involves far more than basketball. Academics, eligibility, housing, visas, and long-term planning all play a role. Without the right guidance, families can make decisions that are difficult or costly to undo.

This program provides clarity, education, and protection at the earliest stage of the pathway

What the Program Covers

Pathway Assessment & Planning

A personalised consultation with CHC founder Jonah Antonio to assess the athlete’s age, level, academics, and long-term goals, and determine whether U.S. high school, prep school, or post-graduate basketball is the most appropriate pathway.

Understanding the U.S. Basketball System

Clear education on:

  • The differences between U.S. high schools, prep schools, and post-graduate programs

  • How school seasons, AAU, and exposure fit into long-term recruiting

  • What matters at each stage of development

  • Common mistakes international families should avoid

Academic & Eligibility Guidance

Support in understanding:

  • NCAA Eligibility Center requirements

  • How Australian and international transcripts (Years 9–12) are evaluated

  • Academic planning to protect future NCAA, JUCO, or NAIA eligibility

  • Amateurism considerations

School & Program Vetting Support

Guidance to help families:

  • Identify legitimate U.S. schools and prep programs

  • Avoid misleading or unverified options

  • Understand tuition, housing, and support structures

  • Ask the right questions before committing

U.S. Program Insight , Experience & Outreach

CHC leverages longstanding relationships across reputable U.S. high schools, prep schools, and post-graduate programs to provide informed, independent guidance.

Where appropriate, CHC may also assist with introductions and outreach to relevant programs on behalf of athletes in the Foundations Program. This outreach is pathway-focused and may include sharing athlete information, facilitating initial introductions, and helping families understand where realistic opportunities may exist within the U.S. system.

CHC founder Jonah Antonio is a graduate of Sunrise Christian Academy, one of the most respected high school and prep basketball programs in the United States, and has firsthand experience navigating the U.S. system as an international athlete.

These relationships, outreach efforts, and experiences are used to inform guidance and support early exposure, not to guarantee placement, acceptance, or outcomes. All final decisions remain with the schools.

Preparing for What Comes Next

The Foundations Program also helps families understand:

  • Physical and skill expectations in the U.S.

  • When college recruitment should begin
